Delaware Burn Camp
The Delaware Burn Camp was established to provide a safe and natural environment for the promotion of physical and emotional healing to young victims of burn injury. The mission of the Delaware Burn Camp is to assist young burn victims in their adjustment to injury through the provision of a safe, supportive environment and providing companionship through physical and social activities in a camp setting.
The burn camp is staffed by nurses, fire fighters, volunteers, professional, and non-professional people from around the State of Delaware. Our staff is filled with caring individuals who all have a passion for helping others.
The camp welcomes – free of charge – any child between the ages of 6 – 18 that has sustained a serious burn injury. The Delaware Burn Camp raises money through the fire service, private organizations, and supportive community members. All of the costs for camp are covered by the organization and there is no charge to the camper’s family, despite their income.
Just like any summer camp, the kids are provided with a variety of activities that are designed for fun, learning, and development of self-esteem, and they are tailored to meet the physical and special needs of burn survivors. These include Boating, Fishing, Swimming, Movies, Dancing, Archery, Hiking, Horseback Riding, Arts and Crafts, and more!
If you want to learn more about the camp, or know of a child who was treated for burns and would benefit from the camp, please contact them at:
