About Us

For nearly forty (40) years, the Burn Foundation has worked to benefit the Philadelphia community by preventing fires and burn injuries, supporting our regional burn centers, and to advocating for burn survivors and their families.

We are proud to coordinate many of our efforts with the burn centers at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Temple University Hospital, St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, and Lehigh Valley Hospital.

We are also supported by a network of volunteer organizations, corporate philanthropists, firefighters, and government grants.

Our efforts focus on four (4) main goals:

  • Providing burn and fire prevention programs to schools and other community organizations;
  • Developing and distributing media, articles and special reports on burn prevention topics;
  • Providing burn prevention information to high-risk audiences including senior citizens and families with young children
  • Coordinating burn-care seminars for student nurses and health care professionals;
  • Participating in regional and national conferences on burn prevention and treatment issues; and
  • Monitoring and reporting regional and national trends in burn incidence and treatment.
  • Furnishing emergency burn care information to 160 referring hospitals in the tri-state area; and
  • Covering the cost of burn pressure garments for underinsured patients
  • Providing a support network and referrals for burn injury survivors and their families
  • Sponsoring campers and providing; counselors to summer camp for burn survivors;
  • Reintegrating survivors to school and work;
  • Providing Burn Buddies to pediatric burn victims to ease the anxiety of dressing changes; and
  • Developing survivor programs such as the Anapol Schwartz Family Mentorship Program for Burn Survivors and S.T.A.R.T. - Survivors Talking And Recovering Together.
